What causes a boil,
Boils are caused by
bacteria or fungi , the bacteria
that causes boils are called staphylococcus or staph.
When this bacteria get on the skin, and get into the body
through any breaks, cut or even hair follicles.
This bacteria can get
into the body through cuts, scrapes, ingrown hairs, razor bumps,
sharing, insects bites and even
through skin diseases.
Here are the most
common risk factors that can result to boils, they are
Diabetes mellitus, diseases directly link with the immune
system, or simply problem with the immune system. Poor nutrition, poor hygiene,
exposure to harsh chemicals that cause skin irritations, and intravenous drug use.
Boils are very
contagious and can easily be transmitted by physical body contact with an
infected person like in saloons, through nail cuts, footbaths, sharing of shoes
and clothes.
When you see a hard,
red, painful pus-filed outgrowth which less than an inch in size.
With times this bump, become, less softer, larger and more
painful, a pocket of pus formed on the top of the bolis.
Are boils contagious
Boils are not contagious on here is own, for boils to be
spread from one person to another the
causative bacteria must be transferred from the infected person to the other. But unfortunately
, this bacteria when transferred to the other person must meet a favorable
condition before they can cause the boil.
When these condition
is absent, then the bacteria will die off, and the infection will not be
spread.
When a bacterium causing the boil, get contact with the skin
of the other person, it must meet , a cut on the skin, a scrape, insects bites
, ingrown hair, or anything on the skin that will allow the bacteria to
penetrate the skin. Otherwise the
bacteria will just die –away.
Therefore mere having
a physical contact with a person having a boil will not transmit the bacteria,
in other word you cannot get boil. But rather you can have the staphylococcus
on your skin. Then it is left for you to allow the bacterium to germinate on
your skin to the point you are having a cut , or wound on your ski.
If after having this
bacteria on your skin and at the end of the day , you had not opening wound I
just die off.
Therefore we can
confidently say boils are not contagious from one person to another.
How long are boils contagious
Boils are contagious as long as it remain draining, as far
the boil is draining fluid it remain contagious,
Are boils contagious after taking antibiotics.
A person having a boil is no longer contagious 24 hours
after taking an antibiotics, remember
boils are caused by bacteria, if this bacteria re made ineffective then , they
cannot move from one person to another.
Antibiotics are drug that made your body in habitable to bacteria. They disrupt their feeding and respiratory
mechanism and stop their growth and multiplicatons.
Are boils sexually transmitted,
Boils cannot be sexually transmitted , they are STDs, but during a sexual intercourse their
must be a body contact between the infected person and the uninfected person.
If there are physical contact, then boils can be transmitted.
Boils on the genitals are easily transmitted as a result the
delicateness and physical friction between the private part during the sexual
intercourse.
Therefore boil remain contagious as far as the it is popped,
draining fluid, andnot any antibitoitic sis used, as long as the boils is not
popped then it is not contagious , even when
the bacterias are still live .
Boils healing stages pictures
Here are the 3 major healing stages of boil
Before it popped:
This is the infection
stages, it is when the bacteria get into the body, through either a cut, a
scrape or shavings on the skin and begin infecting a small part of the skin.
This stage is characterized by a reddening of the skin around the boil, it
start itching and feeling painful, after a week, a bump full o fpus will start
to form , and the irritation and the inflammation will start to increase. At
these stages you should avoid popping the boil. At these stages warm and moisture is what the boil need. Apply warm compress to the
place 3 to 4 times daily.
After popping: this is the opening and draining stage, at
this stage, the boil opens and pus will start draining., though how long this
stage last depend on it severity and your immune system.
At these stages, the best method is to apply warm compress,
warm some water and insert wash cloth into, squeeze out excess moisture , apply
it on the bump area. 3 o 4 time daily. At this stage always wash your hand
after touching the boil. Note this is the dangerous stages of the boils because
at this stage infection very common.
After drying: this is the scabs and scars stages, at these
stage the boil is healed and you should maintain good hygiene to prevent
reoccurrence.
How do you know if your boils is
healing
When you see a
A Scab
A scar
When a dry, rough protective crust form on the boil, when the skin over the boil become dry, rough
then it is a sign you are completely healed. At this stage do not peel the scab
, peeling will result to more scaring . When you see a mark sign on the boil
surface. This mark is as a result of the
repair process by the enzymes in the body. This mark is called a scar.
For a boil to reach this stage, it must pass the draining
stage. Or should I say, the intermediate stage. In the draining stage the boil
will open and pus will start draining, though the pus may contain some little
blood in it. But this should be an issue. Except if the bleeding is profusely.
This is the dangerous stage, when not properly handled it can lead to a more
serious skin complication called carbuncles.
Boil start with the first stage, or the infection stage, at
this stage a bacteria called staphylococcus, get into your body through a hair
follicle, a cut or wound.
Therefore the most noticeable sign that your boils are
healing are as follow, the boils must open and pus must drain, the boil must dry, and scar must form.
when a boil has passed the draining stages, then it has
reached it healing stage.
When the pus started
drying up, scabbing and scaring set in.
at these stage the boil is healed. The next thing is prevention.
·
Practice good hygiene, exfoliate the armpits, the pubic area to stop bacteria backlog.
·
Avoid sharing of towel other people
·
Don’t share razor or needles, these can cause
cut and bacteria from another person easily be transmitted
·
Use anti-bacterial soap for bathing and washing
it is
often said prevention better than cure, keep to personal hygiene and stay safe
from boils.
